How do I find a ham radio repeater near me?
Tap “Use my location” above (or enter coordinates) and HamDaily lists the closest repeaters first, with frequency, offset, CTCSS tone, and mode. The data comes from the open hearham.com database.
What is a repeater offset?
A repeater listens on one frequency and transmits on another; the offset is the gap between them. On 2 m it’s usually ±600 kHz, and on 70 cm ±5 MHz. Your radio shifts automatically when you set the offset.
What is a CTCSS or PL tone?
CTCSS (also called PL) is a sub-audible tone your radio sends so the repeater knows to open up for you. If a repeater needs a tone and you don’t send it, you’ll hear others but won’t key it up. Each listing shows the required tone.
How do I program a repeater into my radio?
You need four things, all shown in each listing: the output frequency, the offset direction (+/–), the offset size, and the CTCSS tone (if any). Enter those and you’re ready to call.
